 We
are currently dealing with a new concept at Forbes Literary Ltd.
If your child
or a child you love is of a literary or artistic nature, we
suggest that you "snare" as much of those writings and
drawings as possible, date them on the back, and tuck them
away. Then - before an important event or rite of passage in
their lives, let's create a book from all of these artistic
endeavors!
Take, for
instance, this poem and picture of my nephew,
Jay. He is twelve years old and has been writing poetry
for some time now. I have encouraged his parents (my brother
and his wife) to collect these verses, and for Jay's 16th birthday
(or his graduation from high school), we can publish all of his
works as a celebration of his literary accomplishments to
date. This poem will, of course, be included...along with
anything he writes in the future and photographs to match each
season or year in which he completed a particular piece of
writing.
What a
marvelous gift and memory! Parents spend hundreds of dollars
on senior high school memorabilia that is marketed to them through
a national company and this fine, but how about taking things up a
notch with this sort of personalization of your child's writing
through the years?
Forbes Literary
Ltd. can help guide you through this process. Please contact
us for more information!
Exciting
things are happening at Forbes Literary Ltd.! Cheryl was the
"Featured Local Author" at the Checkered Cottage open
house in Kirkwood, at the end of April, and she was present for
their book signing event, both for the Coaster Cats Go to the
Amusement Park and Obsessions from a Parallel Universe,
her latest book of poetry.
In addition,
she also had with her at the signing the prototype of a new book -
to be published this Fall - of one of her clients: An
Armful of ABCs by artist and author Alissa
Shoults. All
three books were extremely well received by customers.
Also, final
photos are currently being taken for the upcoming book by Ward and
Strelinger, The Alleys of St. Louis, with a target release date of
early November, 2007...just in time for holiday giving.
Please take a moment and click here
to read an excerpt of that book and to pre-order, if interested in
doing so before the retail price is set: you can save $5 per
book!
The second in
the series of The Coaster Cats books is currently in the
works: The Coaster Cats Ride the Train, and that book
is targeted for a winter 2008 publication. The saga of those
crazy cats continues! Be sure to watch for that release!
Teacher
Tea Staff Developments continue to be scheduled for the
upcoming school year at various venues throughout the metro area,
and if your school is interested in finding out more about this
opportunity, please contact Forbes Literary.
A new focus
area for the company is that of home-schooled children. The
Coaster Cats series is a natural fit for that group, and the
company is currently exploring all the possibilities that might
entail.
Finally, Forbes
Literary has selected a charity for its focus on the issue of
literacy, and more information will be forthcoming regarding that
premier event, currently scheduled for this September.
